Freya Terryn
Freya is a postdoctoral teaching assistant in the research group of Japanese Studies at the University of Leuven (KU Leuven, Belgium). In 2021, she graduated with a PhD in Japanese Studies with a specialization in Japanese visual and print culture of the nineteenth century. Her research is devoted to analysing the interaction between the Japanese state and the popular art of Japanese woodblock prints (ukiyo-e 浮世絵/nishiki-e 錦絵), with a particular focus on their publishers and artists, from the late Edo period to the Meiji era.
Besides her research, she is very passionate about hiking, photography, and being creative (I co-designed the logo of Wasshoi).
